The project documents the Don River from the eyes of a recent Toronto resident born and raised on the west coast of Canada. It seeks to show the Don River to Toronto's own inhabitants in the hope of shedding new light on a watershed that has been the target of extensive alterations and industrial pollution since the founding of the city of York in 1793. It has also been the target of a resurrection, through the efforts of Bring Back the Don, a community task force formed in 1989 in an attempt to restore the river. Given that the Don River has existed long before the city, long before us, it stands as a changing reflection of our impact on the Don Valley and the environment.
